On the afternoon of Dec.27th, the Industrial Development Forum of Graphene, which was sponsored by China International Graphene Industry Union and the Federation of Shenzhen Industries, was held in Hang Du building, Shenzhen. Zhang Jing’an, the chairman of CIGIU, Party member of Ministry of Science and Technology; Dong Zhaoxiang, the administrative deputy vice chairman of CIGIU, the former vice secretary of Party Committee of the Central Finance and Economy Leading Team Office; Wang Zhaowen, the permanent vice chairman, the counsellor of People’s Government of Guangzhou Province, the executive chairman of the Federation of Shenzhen Industries; Gu Yan, the executive vice chairman, the chairman of Matrass C-Graphene; Gao Yuyue, the deputy secretary general of the People’s Government of Shenzhen, as well as the officials of the Shenzhen Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the Scientific and Technological Innovation Committee had a discussion with about 20 entrepreneurs, which was sponsored by Wang Zhaowen.

Zhang Jing’an explained the development situation of Chinese graphene industry and emphasized that graphene was becoming a new revolutionary material from the perspective of the combination of global graphene resource industry-university-research-application cooperation, which attracted great attention from the central government. President Xi Jinping had visited graphene enterprises four times to debrief and make important instructions. The number of China's patent applications, publications and resource possessions in the field of graphene were the highest in the world. Shenzhen’s graphene industry started late, however, with the help of good market circumstances, high level research and development as well as fast industrial transformation, a number of industry leader had been born. Shenzhen was expected to work harder to make itself a global graphene industry center in the future, and become the "Graphene Valley" which was comparable to Silicon Valley in the United States.

Feng Guanping, the founder of Chinese graphene industry, the chief scientist of the Federation of Shenzhen Industries, chairman of the Shenzhen Graphene Industry Association, started his decisive business when he was nearly 70 years old. He transformed and applied his R&D achievement named “low-pressure graphene heating film” in civilian consumer goods only 2 years after the establishment of GNM. In 2016, its sales volume reached 50 million yuan, which made its products become the largest scale in global graphene market for civil use. Feng Guanping pointed out that the biggest advantages of graphene industry in Shenzhen was that we had extensive application market and high level research talents, he believed that more innovations of graphene materials would be applied in future markets, he was confident about the Shenzhen’s development status in China.

During this meeting, the business executives and experts of the Advanced Graphene Materials Science and Technology Academy, Apexgraphene, Eigen Equation, Yi Neng Energy, CNESCO, Innova Institute of New Energy, MeiGe Vacuum, BYD introduced the circumstances of graphene R&D, industry standard, patent production and the preparation technology in Shenzhen, at the same time, they put forward constructive suggestions on industrial policy and support, R&D financing and many other issues.

On behalf of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, Gao Yuyue expressed his appreciation to the chairman Zhang Jing’an and CIGIU. He said that Shenzhen Municipal Government was very much concerned about graphene in the new material field and regarded graphene industry as an important part of the strategic emerging industry, next they would further optimize the industrial policy. He hoped that all the people could work together to make the graphene industry bigger and stronger.

The officials of Federation of Shenzhen Industries, the Graphene Association of Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Society for Advanced Materials attended the meeting.
